Our story begins in September of 2021 at a college party. Now while we met at this party, let be known, both Surabhi and Vishnu recount the night and following events quite differently.

Vishnu’s Version:

I was at a college party, as one does at university. There I was, minding my own business when my eyes landed on the most beautiful smile I’d seen in my life. That smile would change my life forever! Now you’re probably thinking I had game and used it to woo the love of my life. I took a more nuanced approach. I proceeded to say not a single word to Surabhi. At the end of the night, people were exchanging phone numbers. Seeing my opportunity, I asked for her number expecting it to be a fake. To my surprise it was REAL! (My “rizz” worked)!

Now we actually got to talking and I invited her to my birthday party the following weekend. However, it turns out that I didn’t provide her all the details to said event (a partial address was provided contrary to popular belief). Naturally my beloved was vexed that she was invited to a party that she couldn’t attend.

This is when I finally realized I may have messed up. I was determined to make it up to her. How you may ask? By asking her out on a date. ( I later learnt that only I thought this was our first date but can you blame me?).

Surabhi’s Version:

I was at Michigan for my 5th year. All of my friends had graduated so I was on a mission to meet new people and make some friends. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I was at my neighbor's party. So, mission "Lets make friends" obviously began. And it was going quite well! I definitely made tons of friends. It became the end of the night and these new friends and I were exchanging contact information when a random guy (who hadn't spoken one word to me all night) asked for my number. I thought, "sure, why not? Maybe we can be friends too!" and gave him my number.

Now Vishnu and I actually got to talking and I gotta say, it was quite fun! He even invited me to a party at his place. Excited to hang out with my new friend, I was down. However, this man did not tell me where or when said party would be. So I did what any sane person would in my position, I went to sleep.

The next morning, he apologized and asked me out to dinner. Now you'd think, I'd realize that this was a date. Nope. See I learned that it was his birthday. And who goes on a first date on their birthday? So, friends! (I was clearly wrong)

And well, after that, sparks flew and the stars aligned. One thing led to another and well, here we are today, at our wedding!
